Things to do in Siargao
Siargao is great to explore by bike. It takes about 3 hours to drive southeast from the main tourist area (General Luna) to the north end, so it is recommended to stay on the island for at least 3 days.
- Rope Swing on the Maasin Secret River
A coconut tree hangs over the water beside the red bridge in Maasin village. Local children wave and ask for a swing. His one of the most beautiful places in Siargao. Spend the morning swinging and boating down the river to marvel at your rope swing skills. Please leave a tip for these guys as well. - Magpupunko Rock Pool
Drive 45 minutes along the beautiful coastline towards Magpupungko Rock Pools. White sand beach with many small rock pools on the beach at low tide. Ask a local about the best time to visit for the day. - Island hopping
Siargao is covered by the Philippines’ largest mangrove forest and numerous beautiful islands. You can take a day trip to Sugba Lagoon, a Three Island Tour, or even go further and stay at Sohoton Cove. These activities were not possible due to bad weather. - palm perspective
On the south-to-north highway, you’ll pass incredible views of a sea of endless palm trees. There is no signboard, but you can’t miss this superb view. - Surf on Cloud 9 in Siargao
Surf in Siargao. His one of the best surf breaks in the world, Cloud 9 is where Siargao is made famous. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced surfer, Cloud 9 has something for everyone.
On the beach (to the left of Cloud 9 Pier), there are many surf his instructors who can teach you how to surf. - Pacifico Beach
Pacifico on the east coast is his second largest tourist destination in Siargao. It has beautiful white sand beaches and is famous for surfing. Pacifico is just a 10-minute drive from Magpupunco Rock Pool. - Go shopping in Siargao

It may sound obvious, but the drive in Siargao is honestly one of his best experiences. The island is so pristine and breathtaking that your jaw drops at each new corner.

Drive to the northernmost tip of Siargao Island and visit Alegria Beach. A clean strip of white sand and blue water, ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

There’s a reason Siargao has earned the title of Asia’s Most Beautiful Island. The picturesque road along the coast with its white sands and palm trees is impressive at every turn. Just driving hours to talk to the locals and see how they live was our absolute favorite thing to do in Siargao.
Siargao Travel Tips
In 2018, Siargao’s tourism doubled his. The island is developing rapidly, but you have to be prepared for inconveniences like dirt roads, power outages and no Wi-Fi. Siargao people don’t want to ruin their island like Boracay, so there are many environmental programs to raise awareness.

All tourist destinations have banned plastic bags and single-use plastics, so we see bamboo straws instead. The town of General Luna has plastic bottle bins all over the place, which are used by tourists and locals alike.
Drinking water is free in almost all restaurants and smoking is only allowed in some areas.

Siargao has a limited number of ATMs. It is recommended to bring enough cash. At the time of writing (February 2019), there is one in General Luna and his two ATMs in Dapa. The island is quite expensive though.

Siargao WiFi & SIM Card
A stable WLAN is not very common. The restaurant offers Wi-Fi, but you can expect it to be very slow or not work at all. We recommend purchasing 1 or 2 SIM cards. I’ve found that Smart Sim works in some regions and Globe works better in others. Get a SIM card here. arrival and movement
Siargao can be reached by overnight ferry from Cebu or by flight from Manila or Cebu. If you plan to travel to Siargao by plane, make sure you have a morning flight as Siargao airport has no runway lights so flights are often canceled in the afternoon (almost dark) .
You can easily circumnavigate the island by motorbike. Motorbikes can be rented for PHP 350 (USD 6.5) per day. However, this does not apply to helmets. Helmets are constrained at the island. Loose Keys rents clean helmets.

Best time to go to Siargao
The best months in terms of weather in Siargao are March to October. This is the exact opposite of El Nido or Coron destinations.

There are three major tourist citie, which are Dapa, General Luna and Pacifico. Dapa and Pacifico are quiet and General Luna has the best restaurants.
