Nusa Penida Island, near Bali, has one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. One from a postcard. Diamond Beach is a pristine cove of white sand and silky blue waters on the eastern tip of Nusa Penida Island. With the stairs almost completed in 2018, Diamond Beach is likely to become his one of his next highlights on Penida Island and his one of his top activities in Nusa Penida.

Diamond Beach Viewpoint

The view from the height of Diamond Beach is postcard-perfect. Stunning white beaches, limestone rocks, silky blue water and palm trees make for a dream destination. Diamond Beach is definitely one of the must-visit spots in Bali.

You can go all the way to a small building where you will find a viewpoint overlooking the beach. Arrive at the observatory in about 5 minutes on foot from the parking lot.

Atuh Beach is opposite the viewpoint and a must on your 3-week Bali itinerary.

Diamond Beach

The beach was not accessible until the end of 2018. A new staircase carved into the limestone now takes 20 minutes to the beach. The East Nusa Penida Tour allows you to visit this beach.

The stairs were not finished during our visit. There we had to descend a bit and scramble over rocks to reach the beach.

It is recommended to visit Diamond Beach only during low tide. The sea on this side is very rough and prone to danger. You can access the beach by walking on and around the rocks.

Unfortunately Diamond Beach is not for swimming. Each wave contains a lot of coral and rocks and it hurts a lot. You can cool off in the sea by speeding through the waves. Be very careful with the current. This is a new and unfamiliar place and no help here.

It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours for the observatory and the beach. The descent is doable and not as difficult as Kelingking Beach.

How to get to Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is easily accessible by car or motorbike during your Nusa Penida trip. However, due to the fast movement of vehicles and narrow roads, it is not recommended to ride a motorbike in Nusa Penida.

It takes an hour drive from Penida Port to Diamond Beach and is easiest with East Nusa Penida Tours. Day trips are organized from other Nusa islands and Bali.
