Dikwella is a small town in southern Sri Lanka. Dickwella also called Dickwella is known for its great surf spots and yoga retreats at Hiliketiya Beach. Trendy restaurants and hotels have popped up in recent years, making it a destination to add to your Sri Lankan itinerary. It’s so small that you can reach all the spots within 20 minutes. Don’t worry, there are plenty of tuk-tuks nearby. Plan a day or two to do one of these things in Dickwella.

Surf & Chill at Hiriketiya Beach
Hiriketiya Beach (also known as Hili) is a small cove perfect for relaxing and surfing. The water is beautifully clear and there are some good bars near the beach.

As Hiliketiya Beach’s waves are becoming more and more famous, more and more surfers are finding Hili as a place to hang out for a while. You can also rent a board and take lessons directly on the beach. Dots is Hili Beach’s most popular spot, hosting live music parties in the evenings.

Visit the southernmost tip of Sri Lanka
The Dondra Lighthouse is just a 15-minute drive from Hiriketiya (Dikwela) and is considered the southernmost point of Sri Lanka. The giant lighthouse is a beautiful white and yellow building surrounded by palm trees. Definitely worth a visit.

After Dickwella, explore activities in Mirissa or stay overnight in Yala National Park. Yoga of Hiriketiya (Dikwella)
The Salt House is the ideal place to attend a Dickwella yoga retreat. Your class takes place in the open jungle in a beautiful location. Don’t forget to grab a great bite at their restaurant too.

Visit his second largest blowhole in the world
Just outside Dickwella is the famous attraction, the Humanaya Blowhole. The water power builds up and pushes you through a narrow opening in the rock. As soon as the water hits, you hear a thunderstorm, followed by jets of water up to 120 feet high.

swing on the beach
The swings are great and Sri Lanka has plenty of them all over the country. There are swings on the beach next to Dickwella Beach Resort. The other is the Mahimahi restaurant on the bay next door.

Note:
I was informed that the tree swing in the photo below is gone.

Work, eat, skate and hang out at the Verse Collective
Yes work! Verse Collective is his one of the first coworking spaces in Sri Lanka. They opened in November 2017 and have a very good name. With Hiriketiya Beach growing in popularity, the Verse Collective decided to start with the next quiet bay. They serve great food, have hostel rooms, and are the go-to place for digital nomads.
