How to reach Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Tegalalang is best visited in the morning. Buses usually carrying visitors after 10am. The entrance is easy to find along the road. There are many small cafes on this side overlooking the rice terraces.
Descend into the valley until you cross a small bridge. From there, trek to the other side of Tegalalang Rice Terrace. The whole walk only takes 10-15 minutes.
It takes 30 to 90 minutes to see every corner of the rice terraces. Don’t forget to carry water and sunscreen.
Ubud To Tegalalang
The best way to visit Tegalalang is from Ubud. A 20 minute drive can be easily managed on a bike. Even better, combine Tegallalang with one of the many waterfalls in the area. You can have an even more amazing time in Bali by following the Bali Waterfall route.
Canggu To Tegalalang
It’s an easy but relatively long drive from Canggu. You can rent a motorbike for ±60000 IDR a day and go to the rice terraces.

After crossing a small bridge, a donation is requested. 10000 IDR (0.70 USD) per donation. Considering people are walking around and sometimes destroying fields, this is a good deal.
Most of the rice fields are fenced and you have to pay 50000 IDR if you want to go through the fence to take pictures. Yes, these farmers make good money. We think it’s worth it.
Bali Swing at Tegallalang Rice Terrace
Due to Tegalalang’s popularity, many attractions have opened in his 2018. The world-famous Bali swings are now also located throughout the valley. A 3-5 minute swing costs 100000-150000 IDR (8 USD).
