Built on Tamblingan Lake, Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is arguably Bali’s most impressive temple. The water level around the temple rises and falls due to the region’s rainy climate, giving the temple its characteristic appearance.

The temple is incredibly scenic and one of Bali’s most popular activities, so it’s a good idea to plan an early morning visit. Entrance fee is 50,000 IDR (~3.5 USD) here.

3. Swing at Munduk Swing Viewpoint

The mountain range that forms the beginning of the Munduk region offers a rather impressive view of two interconnected lakes, called the Twin Lakes. Many vantage points such as bridges, swings and cafes offer panoramic views for a small fee. The swing in the picture is called Wanagiri Swing.

Ready for adventure?! Wake up early and hike up to 1700 meters to watch the sun rise over the active volcano Batur. With moderate fitness, the summit of the volcano can be reached in a relatively easy two-hour walk.

7. Try Bali Coffee

The cool climate and rich volcanic soils of Bali’s mountainous regions provide perfect conditions for growing many vegetables and fruits. Balinese coffee is famous for its rich flavor and rich aroma. Munduk plantations occupy a large part of the area.

Important note:
While traveling in Bali, many signs say “Luwak Coffee”. Please do not support this as this is an abusive practice of putting animals in tiny cages, feeding them coffee beans, pooping them out and selling them as specialty coffee to customers. Interestingly, 80% of the beans aren’t even real Luwak coffee.
